Mode is a goal-tracking app. The only text messages Mode sends are goal invitations: a Mode user invites a friend to a goal by picking them from their own phone contacts, and Mode sends that friend a single invitation text on the user's behalf. Mode does not send recurring, promotional, or marketing text messages.
Consent is collected inside the Mode app (an in-app form, equivalent to a web form), from the person sending the invitation. Before any text is sent, the app displays the consent wording below and the user must take two affirmative actions: tap Continue on the explainer, then pick a specific contact and tap Create Goal / Send Invites. Nothing is sent without those taps. The consent wording the user sees, verbatim: "Each person you pick gets one text from Mode with your name and a join link, and can reply STOP. Only invite people who'd expect to hear from you."
Step 1. The first time a user opens "Add Participants", the app explains the program before asking for contacts access: each person picked gets one text from Mode with the user's name and a join link, nothing else, and can reply STOP.
Step 2. The user searches their contacts by name and picks who to invite. The consent notice stays on screen next to the list ("Each person you pick gets one text from Mode with your name and a join link, and can reply STOP. Only invite people who'd expect to hear from you."). The chosen number is shown on the participant row, and the invitation is sent only when the user taps Create Goal or Send Invites.
Exactly one message per invitation. Sample:

Mode will not text the same number about the same goal again within 7 days, and sends nothing further unless the recipient chooses to create a Mode account.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out of all future texts from Mode; you will receive one confirmation and nothing more. Reply HELP for help, or email themodeapp@gmail.com.
Mode: You're unsubscribed and won't receive more texts from Mode. Reply START to opt back in.
